Guided Wild Africa Code of Conduct
At Guided Wild Africa, our Expeditions are built around responsible conduct, environmental respect, cultural sensitivity, and safe overland travel.
By joining an Adventure, all guests agree to the following principles:
Respect for Nature
- Remain on existing roads and tracks unless instructed otherwise by your guide.
- Never disturb, feed, approach, or provoke wildlife.
- Leave campsites and wild places cleaner than you found them.
- Avoid unnecessary noise in wilderness areas.
- No littering under any circumstances.
Responsible Overlanding
- Drive cautiously and considerately at all times.
- Follow convoy procedures and guide instructions.
- Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and appropriately equipped before departure.
- Recovery equipment must be used safely and only under guidance where applicable.
- No alcohol may be consumed by anyone driving a vehicle.
Campsite & Expedition Conduct
- Treat fellow travellers, local communities, staff, and guides with courtesy and respect.
- Help maintain a positive and cooperative group atmosphere.
- Be punctual for departures, activities, and border crossings.
- Respect quiet hours and the wilderness experience of others.
- Illegal drugs, reckless behaviour, or antisocial conduct will not be tolerated.
Cultural Respect
- Respect local customs, traditions, and laws in every country visited.
- Always ask permission before photographing local people.
- Support local communities respectfully and responsibly.
Safety
- The expedition leader’s decisions regarding safety, routing, wildlife encounters, weather, river crossings, and vehicle recovery are final.
- Guests must disclose relevant medical or mobility limitations prior to departure where necessary for safe participation.
- Participants take part in activities at their own risk and are expected to exercise sound judgement at all times.
